- Accumulator
- A single bet that combines multiple selections, with winnings rolled over into the next selection for larger payouts.
- American Odds
- Odds displayed as a plus or minus number; plus indicates underdog profit, minus shows favorite profit for a $100 bet.
- Asian Handicap
- A handicap that eliminates the draw outcome, splitting bets into two half‑handicaps.
- Back
- To bet on a particular outcome to happen.
- Bankroll
- The total amount of money set aside for betting.
- Bookmaker
- A company or person that sets odds and accepts bets on sporting events.
- Cash Out
- A feature allowing you to settle a bet before the event ends, either securing a profit or limiting a loss.
- Decimal Odds
- Odds expressed as a single number that includes the stake; multiply your stake by this number to calculate total return.
- Dutching
- Betting on all possible outcomes of an event to guarantee a profit regardless of the result.
- Fractional Odds
- Odds shown as a fraction; the numerator shows profit relative to the denominator stake.
- Hedge
- Placing a second bet to reduce risk or lock in a profit on an existing wager.
- In-Play Betting
- Placing bets while the match is ongoing, with odds that update as the game progresses.
- Juice
- The commission the sportsbook charges for taking a bet, often seen in the odds.
- Kelly Criterion
- A formula used to determine the optimal size of a bet based on your edge and odds.
- Lay
- To bet against an outcome, acting as the bookmaker by accepting other bettors' stakes.
- Line Movement
- Changes in the odds or point spread over time due to betting volume or new information.
- Moneyline
- A bet on which team will win the match, with odds expressed as a positive or negative number.
- Over/Under
- A bet on whether the total combined score will be higher or lower than a set number.
- Parlay
- A single bet that links multiple selections; all must win for the bet to pay out.
- Point Spread
